Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Jones, Chief Executive Officer, brings over 30 years of experience in business management and scientific research to Argus. Dr. Jones is a managing member of Open Prairie Ventures where he is responsible for raising capital, giving presentations, and evaluating business plans and potential investments. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer for the University of Illinois College of Commerce, Department of Business Administration, where he teaches undergraduate, graduate, and off-campus seminars on information systems, marketing and technology commercialization.

While at Open Prairie Ventures, Dr. Jones developed the marketing and handled all aspects of sales for Tomo Therapy, Inc. (2000-2002) during product development. Tomo Therapy designs and markets linear accelerators for the treatment of cancer. Tomo Therapy is a portfolio company of Open Prairie Ventures.

He was Director of Operations at Labthermics Technologies, Inc., supervising day to day business activities, sales and marketing, production, and administration. He previously served as Senior Scientist and designer.

Dr. Jones worked at the US Army Construction Engineering Research Lab as a Principal Investigator researching the phenomena of Feedback Control for Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance (1991 to 1995). While there he managed a $1 million technology transfer program (FEAP) for three years.

From 1983 to 1988 he was the Founder and President of Data View, Inc. Data View provided custom engineering, product design, custom hardware and consulting for various customers, mostly in the financial trading industry. He worked with V Band Systems to design products for trading floors. These included touch turrets (telephones) and control and display modules for trader turrets, which are installed worldwide. He was also responsible for raising capital, marketing, product concepts, project management, mechanical design and company administration.

Dr. Jones received his PhD from the University of Alabama in Physics (1975), an MBA from the University of Illinois (1978), and a BS and MS in Physics and Math from the University of Alabama (1965, 1972).


Chief Security Architect

Paul A. McNabb, Chief Security Architect, brings over 25 years experience with UNIX software development and administration to Argus. Mr. McNabb developed the architecture of the world's first third-generation trusted operating system, including the design, development, and testing of many of Argus' secure UNIX products. In addition, he supervised the unprecedented ITSEC certification of Argus security applications.

Mr. McNabb previously served as Manager of Trusted Products for Addamax Corporation from March 1988 through February 1993, where he was responsible for supporting the security evaluation of all trusted security products. From 1984-1985, he was employed as the Director of Research Facilities for the Computer Science Department at Purdue University. In this capacity, Mr. McNabb was responsible for managing the purchase and administration of all departmental hardware and software. He received a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Purdue University in 1984.

Mr. McNabb served as the deputy director of the University of Illinois Center for Advanced Research in Information Security (CARIS) and also as the chairman of the ASP Industry Consortium (ASPIC) Best Practices Security Subcommittee.

Mr. McNabb has participated in defining security issues and economic solutions for architectures ranging from ASP and ISP hosting environments to government and defense information systems. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and has over 25 years direct experience in Internet/ARPAnet development and security. He is a frequent lecturer before industry and academic groups and has been a speaker at more than 40 security conferences and symposia in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.


Chief Technology Officer

Mikel L. Matthews, Sr, Chief Technology Officer, brings over 30 years of experience in the computer and electronics fields to Argus. He has spent over 20 years in the design and implementation of Trusted UNIX Operating Systems, and was the Chief Scientist for the first successfully evaluated Trusted UNIX Operating System. He was one of the main architects of the Addamax Trusted Operated System.

He was one of the founders of Argus, leaving in 1995 to become the Engineering Manager and Senior Project Engineer at GCOM, Inc. in Champaign. During his time at GCOM, he continued to perform consulting work for Argus. In 1999, he rejoined Argus as Vice President and Chief Engineer. Mr. Matthews was a Special Projects Manager at Addamax Corporation from 1987-1990 and again from 1991-1993.

He was Internal Operations Manager for Advanced Analystics Corporation from 1990-1991. Mr. Matthews was Chief Project Scientist at Gould Computer Systems Division in Urbana, Illinois from 1981-1987, where he was responsible for all aspects related to the Gould Secure UNIX (UTX/32S).

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 through 1981, eventually serving as an instructor in the Minute Man Missile Program. Mr. Matthews received a B.S. in Electronic Systems from Southern Illinois University.


Vice President - Sales & Marketing

Mac brings over 35 years of high tech sales and marketing experience to Argus, His background includes work in a wide variety of high tech products and industries. He has consulted for several start up companies and been involved in technology transfer from the academic community. He has been involved in the computer, information technologies, electronics and process industries including 10 years in sales and sales management positions at IBM. He has held Vice President level positions in four electronics/computer/software companies.

Mac is the founder of The Management Development Group (MDG). An Illinois based seminar provider and sales/marketing consulting services company. The firm formed in 1988 has trained hundreds of sales people, both reps and direct. In addition Mac has set up independent representative/distributor sales channels as well as international distributors in Europe for four US companies. While at IBM he was involved in sales training of the field sales force in the Midwest region. For two years he was a manufacturer's rep in the Chicago area. In each position he has held, he has developed sales channels, developed and conducted and conducted training sessions both domestically and internationally. Overall experience includes the following industries: computer systems, security software, board level products, system enclosures, and process instrumentation.

Mac is a frequent speaker in the MBA and Engineering departments at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. His experience also includes speaking at trade shows, national rep association meetings. He is also an instructor for Global Competence Forum, a European based seminar provider.

Mac is a contributing author to the Operations Manual for Manufacturer's Representative Firms published by the Manufacturer´s Representative Educational Research Foundation (MRERF).

Mac graduated from North Park University in Chicago, Illinois with a degree in Mathematics and holds an MBA from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign.
